Softball

             Softball is a alternative form of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field.The game was invented in 1887 in Chicago,United States as an indoor game.It was called with different names like indoor baseball,mush ball,playground,softball,kitten ball and this game was played by womens also.
            The name softball was given in 1926 because the ball used to be soft.
            In 1933 a tournment held at Chicago World's Fair prompt interest in the game.The Amateur Softball Association(ASA) of America governs the game IN United States and sponsors annual sectional and World series championships.The "World Baseball Softball Confederation"(WBSC) modulates rules of play more than 110 countries,including United States and Canada before WBSC was formed in 2013,the International Softball Federation filled this role.Women's fast ball pitch became "Summer Olympic Sport in 1996"but were dropped from 2012 Games and the game is again including from 2020 Olympic sports.
           Softball rules are some what different from baseball,the two main differences are that the ball must be pitched underhand  from 46ft for men and 43ft for women as compared with 60.5ft in baseball and seven innings instead of nine constitute a regulation game.
           The name of the game is softball but the ball is not soft.The ball is about 30.5cm in circumference and which is 8cm larger than baseball.
