Ice Skating

               Ice Skating played on ice with the help Ice Skates.It can be done for doing exercise,leisure time,travelling and various sports.Ice Skating occurs on both in indoor and outdoor,as well as on naturally occuring bodies of frozen water,such as ponds,lakes and rivers.
               Federico Formenti by his study from University of Oxford informed that ice skating was happened in southern Finland more than 3,000years ago.In 17th century ice skating was brought to Britain from the Netherland,where James II was briefly expel in the 17th century. When James II returned to England  the New Sport Ice Skating was introduced to the people and the people like very much and enjoyed alot.
             In 1740 the first Skating club was organized "Edinburgh Skating Club".Next second club was in 1783 of the Encyclopedia Britannica.
             In ice skating 16 or 32 competitors were participated,were paired off in heats and winner of each heat went throught to the next round.A course of 660 yards was measured out on the ice and a barrel with a flag on it placed at either end.For a on e and half mile race skater complets two rounds of the game with three barrel turns.
            On 1st Feb 1879 which is Saturday a member of professional Ice Skaters fom Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire met in the Guildhall Cambridge to set up the National Skating Association,the first national skating body in the world.The newly formed Association held their first one and half mile british professional championship at Thorney in December 1879.
